Book Description

Single sheet, 48 x 40, printed on one side, large engraved illustration hand-coloured in green & orange, explanatory text at foot, folded for storage. Adams, the Customs examining and Principal coast officer at Ramsey, Isle of Man, created his tide indicator for the safety of vessels entering harbour to enable masters to determine the depth of water available suitable to their draft. This attractive broadside illustrates the workings of the indicator in three sectional schematics, with the indicator operating by float and hydraulics. A very good copy (light creasing).
