Dealer Notes
Tod (1782-1835) was an officer with the British East India Company, and became Political Agent in Rajputana. His travels and researches in the area in conducting his duties resulted in a number of academic works, chief of which is his Annals and Antiquities of Rajasthan (1829-32). After his return to Britain, Tod contributed papers to the Transactions of the Royal Asiatic Society, and the present offprint discusses the significance of figures reproduced in the plates from original sketches by Captain Grindley made at the Ellora Caves.
