Rare Calcutta imprint - The Persian Moonshee

Book Description
Rare Second edition, printed in Calcutta, of the Persian Moonshee in 2 volumes
-Mirror Press 1799
-Francis Gladwin.
Interestingly, the first volume is particularly rare in its second edition (being only identified in only one other copy on Worldcat (Wales National Library). This may be explained by the fact that in the introduction to the third edition (also published in Calcutta) buyers are invited to swap their second edition for the new third edition.
The first edition has no records in auctions and only 2 institutional holdings are noted on Worldcat (BL and Mainz). The third edition has no auction records and there are 14 holdings on Worldcat.
The Fourth edition - printed in London in 1801 - is relatively common on the market.
The Mirror Press was an enigmatic and short lived press, known for publishing Solvyn's collection of engravings "Description of the Manners, Customs and Dresses of the Hindoos".
Complete example. Folding table at beginning of volume 1 in two halves bound separately. Water damage to outer part of leaves, some worming, some old repairs and losses.
