Book Description

London: Geoffrey Bles, 1947. First edition, first printing. This is a very good (or better) copy. The dust wrapper has some spotting marks throughout, and as common with this title, is browned at the spine. It has not been price clipped (10s. 6d. net). There is a crease to the bottom right-hand corner of the front panel. There is a small, neat contemporary inscription to the front flyleaf. The text blocks are pristine and without foxing. The boards are sharp and straight in the original green cloth the gilt lettering is bright and untarnished. Overall, this is a very good (or better) copy in scarce condition. One of Lewis's most celebrated works as he takes on a controversial subject. How are the Miracles to be interpreted? Lewis thought that before a historical inquiry could be launched ground needed to be cleared and the assumptions of the previous 200 years challenged.
