Book Description

A very good copy of the 1st edition of the third book in Rev. Awdry's Thomas The Tank series of books - 'James The Red Engine'. Scarce to find in 1st edition state and even scarcer with original dust wrapper. This copy is very good in a good+ wrapper. These early wrappers are notoriously fragile and thus few survive well; this one is presenting well, with some rubbing, chipping and very minor loss (see photos). The boards are very bright, with minor rubbing to base of spine. Internally very good, with neat gift inscription to ffep and minor looseness at the start. Illustrated by Reginald Dalby (his first book in the series), who became the established illustrator of the series. No publication details and mention of previous two books to rear, as called for. Increasingly difficult, with prices only ever likely to go up....
