Book Description

CENTENARY EDITION. 4to. (10.1 x 8.1 inches). Finely illustrated with 12 mounted full colour plates, each with a printed tissue guard, and dozens of line drawings throughout the text and along top of text pages. A small amount of offsetting to the endpapers and a neat owner name in the printed panel for ownership details, but generally a lovely clean and bright copy in the original publishers red cloth binding with gilt ruled lines and lettering to the spine. Front board with gilt lettering and gilt and pink illustration within four white ruled border lines. Cloth is a bit faded but the gilt still bright and fresh. In the original dustwrapper with black lettering to spine. Rear panel illustrated in black with the March hare and Mad Hatter. Front board lettered in black and with a full colour plate mounted onto the centre, all within a four line ruled black border. Some minor fading to the dustwrapper spine. A couple of small chips to the top and bottom of the spine and a few small closed tears, without loss to the edges. Overall a very good book in a very good dustwrapper. ----- This beautifully illustrated edition was originally issued in 1922 and re-issued in this edition to mark the centenary of Lewis Carroll's birth.
