The World Crisis is Churchill's account of the First World War, always analytical and, in some parts, justifying of his role in the war.
All volumes are in very good condition, have straight and tight bindings and bright gilt lettering on the spine. All maps are fully intact.
Volume I 1911 - 1914 Published April 1923
There is a neat owners name and date to the front end paper.
There is shelf wear to the top and bottom edges of the spine, a white mark to the spine and faint marks to the back board. The end papers and pages are free from tears. There are marks to the fore edge.
Volume II 1915 Published October 1923
There is a small booksellers sticker to the rear of the front board and a near owners name and date to the front end paper.
There is shelf wear to the top and bottom edges of the spine and faint white marks to the back board. The end papers and pages are free form tears. There is foxing to the front and back end papers and the first few pages and all the edges.
Volume III Part I 1916 - 1918 Published 1927
There is booksellers sticker to the rear of the front board and a neat owners name and date to the front end paper. There is shelf wear to the top and bottom edges of the spine. The toned end papers and pages are free from tears. There is foxing to all the edges.
Volume IV Part II 1916 - 1918 Published 1917
There is a small booksellers sticker to the rear of the front board and a near owners name and date to the front end paper.
Erratum slip in place.
There is shelf wear to the top and bottom edges of the spine, a small white mark to the front board and faint marks to the back board. The toned end papers and pages are free from tears. There are marks to all the edges.
Volume V The Aftermath Published March 1929
There is neat personal dedication and date to the front end paper.
There is shelf wear to the top and bottom edges of the spine, a white mark to the front board, a mark to the spine and crease marks to the bottom corner of the back board. There is loss to the bottom corner of the front and paper and front board. There is slight foxing to the top edge are edges.
A further volume, supplementary to the 5 volumes above, entitled The Eastern Front, was subsequently written by Churchill as he feared he hadn't given enough coverage to that particular area previously.
Overall a very good set of first / firsts.
