Dealer Notes
‘What it is not is a motorist’s guide’, (David Heathcote, A Shell Eye on England (2011)). ‘West Coast of Scotland is in its own way a very gentlemanly book, wearing its knowledge and politics clearly but lightly, leaving enough space for the reader to make up his own mind, and enough space for some avuncular and full entries and beautifully balanced landscapes.’ After the war, the second edition was ‘filleted of most of its political content’. Scarce.
