Book Description

Harvill Secker. 2014. First edition; first printing. Yellow variant binding. Library-style sleeve inlaid to the upper board. Price of £12.99 to lower board. A first UK printing of Murakami's illustrated short story, which first appeared in print in Murakami's 1983 collection 'Kangaroo-biyori' ('A Perfect Day for Kangaroos'), published in Japan by Heibonsha. This first English edition was released simultaneously in the US by Alfred A. Knopf in a distinctly different format and lay-out. The US edition was designed by Chip Kidd and published as a paperback original. The UK edition was designed by Suzanne Dean and exists in pink and yellow boards. The yellow variant appears to be particularly scarce.
