Published in 1901, this is the first edition of this very scarce book on the History of Oswestry Castle in Shropshire, this example being a special presentation copy to Lord Kenyon of Gredington from the author, bound in a fine full leather binding, titled and elaborately decorated in gilt, page edges gilded all-round, inscribed to Lord Kenyon from the author, with an author written accompanying letter, bears the armorial bookplate of Lord Kenyon, unlike any of the other known recorded copies, this copy has a printed title page, and a hand painted illuminated frontispiece, also two full page illustrations, and two printed prefatory pages not seen in other known copies, [4] 67 pages, with two illustrations, and other figures within the text. only one holding listed in any of the main institutional library collections. Oswestry Library have a copy in their collection, which has no title page, nor the illustrations, some mild corner bumps and light rubbing wear to spine ends, internally mild foxing to endpapers else contents in good condition. A unique and beautifully bound example of this rare book
