A printed message on the rear wrapper from David Burnett, Lord Mayor of London, reads: "To the Editor of the 'Daily Express'. Sir,- I have heard, with the greatest satisfaction, the excellent idea of the 'Daily Express' to raise a penny collection for the Mansion House Fund, thus enabling even the humblest of us to participate in the realization of Captain Scott's pathetic appeal to his fellow countrymen" (dated February 14th, 1913). The contents comprise a brief review of the South Pole party's demise, a sketch map of their route, a 2pp. transcript of Scott's "Last Message", portraits of the 5 men and brief biographies of each.
