Jean Léopold Nicolas Frédéric Cuvier, known as Georges Cuvier, died in 1832, Jean-Baptiste Joseph Fourier in 1830. These éloges for them by fellow academicians contain important biographical information, and in the case of Cuvier a list of his published works. The volume also includes Siméon Denis Poisson’s ‘Mémoire sur le mouvement d’un corps solide’ (pp. 223-331).
