The Opium-Eating Editor: Thomas De Quincey and the 'Westmorland Gazette'

Book Description
Hardback. 191pp. 12 black and white plates. biography of the essayist and translator Thomas de Quincy, friend of Coleridge and Wordsworth, and briefly editor of the still published Westmorland Gazette in the Lake District.
Red boards with gilt titles to the spine are very clean and neat. Slight suggestion that the first few pages have been wet with some crinkling to lower margin and a little ink transfer from the original (Westmorland Gazette) price label that is on the inner dust jacket flap. The majority of the pages are unaffected by this. The dust jacket is clean but slightly rolled to the top edge and slightly sunned to the spine.
