Hardback in full Vellum. Two volume Edition de Luxe, limited to 250 copies hand numbered in red as no. 187, of this Victorian classic. Binding has a red and black fleur de lis to the front surrounded by a very deep border of gilt and blue decorations. Gilt decorations to the spine. Top edge gilt. Illustrated throughout. vi, 315+vi, 299pp. Portrait frontis. 60 plates showing views of Italy, mainly from photographs and each with a tissue guard with captions in red. A very pretty set. Vellum is darkened. Gilt is dull to the spine. To the boards the title is a little rubbed but the decorations are bright to volume one and little rubbed to volume 2. A slight ridge to the upper board of volume two. Hinges are sound. Text is slightly age toned to page margins. Tight, square copies.
