The First UK printing published by Faber and Faber in 1957. The BOOK is in Very Good++ condition with slight pushing at the spine ends. A little light marking to the board covers. The gilt titling remains bright. A hint of toning to the text-block with some offsetting to the blank end-papers. Free from inscriptions and erasures. The WRAPPER is complete and is in Very Good+ condition. Light edge-wear with some small nicks, creasing and a little loss at the corners and spine ends. Some fading of the red colouring to the spine. A small area of loss to the centre of the rear panel. The wrapper is protected in a removable Brodart archival cover. The book has been Signed (without dedication) by the author to the title page. A copy of the ticket for the signing event accompanies the title as provenance. The third scarce title from the acclaimed travel writer James (now Jan) Morris. Collectible.
