Book Description

The sole UK printing published by G. Bell & Sons in 1935. The BOOK is in Very Good++ or better condition. The cloth-backed pictorial boards are very clean having been protected by the wrapper. Offsetting and light spotting to the prelim blank end papers. A very faint remnant of where a small previous owner's book label to the front blank end-paper has been removed. This is hardly visible. Free from inscriptions. Very slight toning to the extreme page edges. The WRAPPER is complete and is in Very Good- condition. There is extensive tape reinforcement to the spine and folds to the verso. This is only visible where is is some light rubbing to the spine folds and where there are a small area of loss to the spine ends. The wrapper is rubbed in places with a few nicks, small closed tears and a little loss at the upper spine and corners. There is some age related marks to the rear panel with a small tape remnant to the lower rear cover adjacent to the spine. The wrapper despite the description, presents well in the removable brodart archival cover. Cover design, title-page and numerous black and white drawings in the text by Edward Bawden. A very scarce early Bawden title.
