Book Description

The Magazine of Science and School of Arts, published by W Brittain, London 1840. A complete run of the magazine from July to December 1840 bound in one volume in card and cloth. Contains 206 pages of text and and illustrations, which are mainly engravings of machines, steam engines, industrial processes and inventions. In a home-made cloth binding, size 24 by 17 cm. and with a hand-written title to the front endpaper and a hand-written index at the rear. Contents VG condition, binding sound but the work of an amateur (whose name appears on the front endpaper). The cloth covers and spine are ragged but the contents are fascinating.
