Book Description

26.0 cm x 30.5 cm x 3.0 cm. 104pp. MS and with drawings and tipped in photos, clippings etc. In good condition. Original dark green cloth boards but back board is quite damaged and a large portion has been replaced (see photos). Inside, the pages are tight and the manuscript text is clear, though the pages have begun to yellow and there is some foxing. A few pages near the end have portions torn out of them.

A truly unique item, this logbook was written and filled in by hand, lovingly crafted with songs, photos and descriptions of activities. Entitled "The Log of the Good Ship Eighty-One" and with the first entry dating from 1914, the book chronicles the doings of the Muswell Hill branch of the Boy Scouts in the early part of the 20th century.
