Book Description
Crown 8vo. First edition. Original navy buckram, gilt. Top edge stained blue. With 51 illustrations (4 in colour) and 5 maps. Presentation label on the flyleaf. D/w faded on the spine with some rubbing to the extremities and a couple of very short closed tears to the top edge. Near fine in very good + d/w.
Dealer Notes
The first full-scale biography of ‘the greatest seaman-explorer of all time’. The presentation is to Roy Bridges, Head of the Department of History at the University of Aberdeen, from his colleagues. Bridges was President of The Hakluyt Society from 2002 to 2008. The Life is Volume IV of The Journals of Captain James Cook on his Voyages of Discovery.
