Old light marginal dampstain (max 1 cm) at lower edge of frontis in vol. 1 and on eps and paste-downs in vol. 2, not affecting text; bookplates; ink name on half-titles. Note: "Pictures" in the title does not refer to actual images; perhaps 'word pictures' might be a better description.

According to the author, this is the first biography of, in her time, one of the most famous actresses of the 18th C. She was a close friend of David Garrick.
