Book Description

1st Edition, 14 x 20.5 cm blue boards with gilt stamped titles to the spine, 318(2)pp. In original unclipped dust jacket priced at 14s. net. A near fine book with clean boards with just a little pushing to the bottom corners. The text block is tight and square and internally the book is bright with is no name inscription or bookplate and just the merest hint of toning in a band on the free endpapers where the dust jacket does not reach. The dust jacket which is now protected in a removable, clear cover (not shown) presents very well. The spine is not faded and there is barely any toning to the rear panel. There are two closed tears on the bottom of the rear joint and rear panel measuring under 0.5 cm and 2 of under 1cm on the joints at the head of the spine with a little associated creasing. Otherwise any rubbing is minimal. All in all a lovely 1st Edition of MacLean’s second and most successful book that provided the basis for the Oscar and Golden Globe winning film of the same name staring Gregory Peck, David Niven and Anthony Quinn.
