Book Description

A very nice copy of a lovely Victorian book for girls. 'The Girl's Own Book' was first produced by Lydia Maria Child as a guide to numerous activities and instructions for girls of the 1800s. This volume is a 'new edition' produced by Laura Valentine and published (as before) by William Tegg. Appears to date to the mid 1800s period. Gold embossed front board good, with fading to spine (and also split to rear bottom of spine). Internally very good, with lovely colour frontispiece of girls playing croquet. Also colour plates to rear in the 'Botany' chapter. Altogether rather special...
