Book Description

FIRST EDITION. 8vo. (8.1 x 5.5 inches). xii, 299pp plus 8pp of publishers adverts. Illustrated with a colour frontispiece and 15 full page mono illustrations by various artists. A few pages at the front of the text affected by light foxing but overall a very good clean copy in publishers cloth with colour illustrations and gilt lettering to the front board and spine. School prize label, dated 1920 on blank front free endpaper. A little bumping of the top and bottom of the spine but overall a superior copy of this scarce and interesting book. ----- The British Library gives a date of 1913, but the Author's preface is dated July 1912 and the technical details listed are all dated early 1912 or before suggesting the book may have been issued late that year, which coincides with the date that the Bodleian library attributes to their copy.
