Folio, 17.75ins x 14ins, marbled endpapers, [vii] - half-title, title, preface, list of plates, followed by 21 mounted plates each faced by one (or sometimes two) pages of text. Some other small illustrations within the text pages. Plates drawn by the author -Heywood Sumner. Considerable light foxing. Bookplate of Ernest Shackleton to front pastedown and that of Robin Myers to front free endpaper. Scratch mark to front board. G+ nr VG.
