Book Description

Stated 1st Edition, 13.4 x 19.5 cm lilac and white paper covered boards with black stamped vignette to the front, titles to the spine and Borzoi device to back panel. Uncut front edge (xii) 271pp (3) with original unclipped dust jacket priced at $2.75 net. the boards are bright and clean with a hint of pushing to the spine tips and corners and small bruises to the bottom corners. Internally the book is clean and without name , inscription or book plate. The dust jacket has tide marks visible on the verso of the jacket and slight cockling to the front panel that can be felt rather than see. There is some rubbing and surface abrasion to the edges and joints with minor loss to the fore edge corners and spine tips. There is very light creasing along the top edge. Despite these minor faults it presents very well.

Both the 1949 film, directed by John Huston and featuring Marilyn Monroe in one of her earliest roles, and the 1961 US TV series of the same name, were based on the book
