1st Edition 1945 27.7 x 22.2 cm pictorial paper covered boards with alphabet pastedowns. Unpaginated [28] with a page to represent each letter of the alphabet containing woodcut illustrations and a rhyming couplet. In original unclipped jacket priced at 6s. net. A near fine copy clean and bright with a small crease across the spine and to the top corner of the upper board. Internally clean, without name, inscription or bookplate. The dust jacket which is now protected in a removable, clear cover (not shown) is lightly toned with just a tiny chip on the top edge and a 1.5 cm closed tear with associated creasing on the bottom edge. Hellmuth Weissenborn was born in Leipzig in 1898 and moved to England in 1938, He married his wife Lesley Macdonald in 1945 and together they founded the Acorn Press. This is the first book published by the press and is rare particularly in a jacket.
