Scarce First Edition 1873. 4to, 26.5 x 21cm. Bound in original green pebbled cloth portfolio with gilt lettering and detail to front and blind decoration front and rear. Spine split at edges, marking / foxing to inner flaps, lacks ties, still square and solid, overall very good condition. Contains 13 photographs Complete, inside a folded paper wrapper (now split in two) this acts as the title page, and verso a message from Tennyson to Arthur Brown, praising this work - a very scarce survivor. Each Photograph is mounted on thick cream card, within a brown single line border and captioned with a verse from Tennyson’s poem.
