Large original pen and ink panorama of Naples on 6 sheets, mounted on linen, folded in concertina form, extending to 195 x 2070 mm. With the artist’s manuscript label translating to “ Panorama of Castellamare taken from the Cannavale Casino. Drawn from the original with pen and ink by Antonio Senape, Roman,” followed by his address in Naples.
Dealer Notes
Antonio Senape [1788 - 1850] was born in Rome but felt closer to the city of Naples, although he travelled all over Italy and up to Switzerland executing his fine landscape drawings mostly full of animated figures which make them stand out from the common Grand Tour souvenirs of the time.
