Paper somewhat wrinkled to margins, but otherwise a good clean example, with no annotations or markings. Half-title present, reading Dr. Covel’s account of the Greek Church. Collated and correct, with four plates, showing ecclesiastical dress, church utensils, and a church plan. Blackmer 420.
Dealer Notes
Covel was Chaplain to the Levant Company in Istanbul, and had an excellent opportunity to witness the Orthodox Ottoman subjects closely. His work covers Greek Communion, the Liturgy, Transubstantiation, the Sacraments, and images and the worship of saints.
