Quarter black calf, spine lettered in gilt and decorated with John Westwood’s gilt and green blocked geometric design, green cloth boards. Top edge black. Red endpapers. Spine rubbed, pushing to heel. Else, clean, bright and tight. In the original sober slip case, black leather edges and caps, grey paper sides and back: shelf-wear, bump to spine, nick to rear panel, a few stains.

The first Folio set of the Bronte sisters’ fiction was colour coded by author: as this title suggests, Charlotte was green, Anne blue and Emily red
