No date. c. 1814. 8vo in 4s. Two volumes. Vol 1: [v]-vii [9]-272, Vol 2: [v]-vii, [9]-254 (2) (ad), engraved vignette title pages, frontispiece and six full-page woodcuts to each volume, plus vignette tailpieces. Original publishers green pebble cloth boards, with paper label, indicating price at 10s. Binding rubbed to hinges, more notably to volume 2, where the front hinge is split to upper half, original endpapers present, a little foxing and browning to title pages with mark at foot to both, slightly rubbed to hinges and top of spine, but a good set overall.
Dealer Notes
Rather an unusual work. Davison, often working with Catnach, produced a number of works by Bewick. This was intended to mirror his successful publication of a Bewick illustrated version of Burns. Tattersfield TB 2.502.
