Our Native Ferns or A History Of The British Species And Their Varieties ~ in 2 volumes, by E.J. Lowe Esq (Edward Joseph) FRAS, FGS, FLS, FZS, MBMS; pub by Groombridge And Sons. London 1867/69. Small 4to 6 ½ x 10 , bound in green cloth, gilt design on front cover and title on spine of each volume. Yellow endpapers Vol 1, pub 1867, 356pps + 37pps of coloured plates and 317 wood engravings; top of spine has some wear, bottom right front and back covers have some slight discolouring, bottom front corner is damaged with a small bit of cloth partly pulled off, other corners are slightly knocked; inside endpapers are dusty with some marks, binding in good condition. Vol 2, pub 1967, 500pps +42pps of coloured plates and 592 wood engravings; top of spine some slight wear, all corners have some slight wear, front cover edge to spine has some slight wear, covers have some discolouring and stains, inside end papers have marks and are a bit discoloured, As Far as I can see all the coloured plates still have their original tissue covering - which is quite unusual. Books have obviously been well used as working copies for field/research work, but both vols are generally in good condition. Books weigh 2.5kg. #810a,
