Freddy Theys was born in Antwerp, where he studied Life Drawing at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts. He lives and works in Belgium, visiting Scotland once a year for inspiration for his etchings. His work is held in many private and public collections throughout the world, including those of the Scottish National Portrait Gallery, National Portrait Gallery in London and City of Antwerp Portrait Gallery.
