Slim 8vo, pp. [xiii], 106, [6] + illustrated with engravings by Clemence Housman after drawings by Paul Woodroffe, plus rose, thorn and heart head- and tail-pieces and similarly floriated initials. Red cloth, spine and upper board lettered in gilt, yap fore-edges. Fore-edge untrimmed, illustrated endpapers (on the same lover’s theme). Spine sunned, extremities pushed, rubbed and faded. Edges and endpapers foxed, POI in black pen to verso of ffep, else, clean, tight and bright, with Clemence Houseman’s engravings especially pleasing. An attractive edition.

The author, illustrator and suffragette Clemence Housman (1861-1955) collaborated with her second brother Laurence on a number of book projects, as well as co-founding the Suffrage Atelier.
