Book Description

This highly decorative Victorian county map of Nottinghamshire has been embellished with armorials and other features. It was first published in 1836 and subsequent editions were published until 1852. This is an original steel engraving with later hand colouring to highlight the elaborate border of acanthus leaves, a serpent, roses and other flowers, a dancing female figure accompanied by a dog, a mermaid, six coats of arms and inset vignettes with depict views of Worksop Manor, Nottingham Castle and Newstead Abbey.
