The Norsk Hydro-Elektrisk Kvaelstofaktieselskab was the first company to undertake the production of nitrates from atmospheric nitrogen on an industrial scale. Furnaces and production plants were established at Notodden and Rjukan in Norway,a second power station being installed at the latter by 1916. This publicity brochure contains some initial text describing the establishment of the plants, followed by photographic illustrations of the plants, and views of the areas in which they are located.
