Title page undated, presentation bookplate to front endpaper dated 1929 this is an attractive early British Sampson Low edition of this classic maritime Novel, featuring a decorative cover featuring one of the main characters of the Novel “Mesty” (Mephistopheles, Devil, Faust), dressed as Satan driving a carriage, also included with the book is the ORIGINAL BRASS PRINTERS PLATE USED FOR THE SPINE PANEL DECORATION internally illustrated with a small number of plates, 7.5 inches tall approx. CONDITION small mark to the spine, some mild rubbing wear, else the covers are in nice general condition, internally some mild foxing, a few creased corners, rear blank endpaper noticeably creased else in good general condition AN ATTRACTIVE EARLY BRITISH SAMPSON LOW EDITION OF THIS NOVEL OF THE ROYAL NAVY AND PRIVATEER WITH THE ORIGINAL BRASS PRINTERS PLATE FOR THE SPINE PANEL
