Book Description

This very influential early Victorian cookery book remained in print for over 50 years. Acton writes in beautiful, confident and decisive prose with an attention to economy and practicality. It is one of the first cookery books to include recipes for Eastern 'chutneys' and is the first to use the name 'Christmas Pudding' for plum pudding.
