Miscellanea Scotia
Book Description
A very smart four volume leather-bound set of Glasgow publisher John Wylie and Company’s Miscellanea Scotia, a collection of reprinted earlier works on various aspects of Scottish life and history. Contents include travelogues, a history of the Picts, narratives of the Glencoe massacre, treatises on Second Sight, and various clan histories. These first edition copies, published between 1818-1820, have been rebound from their original cloth in handsome leather boards with raised bands and gilt title plates to the spine.
Binding remains firm and tight. Gilt title plates to spine only slightly faded. Boards generally scuffed, scratched, and discolored, although edges remain neat. Previous owner’s ex-libris plate presented neatly on top left corner of front marbled endpaper. Internally bright and clean.
