this is a lovingly and painstakingly put together scrapbook by a Donald Locke, done in 1932 it features hundreds of articles and clippings from newspapers and magazines of the period on famous composers and musicians, the book is fully used and runs to 214 pages, what makes this scrapbook so special is that Donald has over painted by hand virtually every illustration in the book, that is two hundred and eighty illustrations coloured by hand, which has made them look like individual paintings, Donald must have spent many, many, hours working on this, it was obviously a labour of love there are biographies and articles on many musicians and composers including, Beethoven, Handel, Bach, Haydn, Mozart, Weber, Schubert, Berlioz, Mendelssohn, Rossini, Chopin, Schumann, Liszt, Wagner, Brahms, Handel, Field, Faust, and much more the scrapbook measures just under 12 inches tall, cloth spine with leather covers, titled in gilt to the upper cover a good selection of pages from the album are pictured so content and condition can be seen some rubbing wear to covers, internally a few of the opening pages are starting to loosen, some browning to pages else in good general condition
