In very good condition, with only a few minor signs of shelfwear and handling to the book itself, chiefly comprising a little bit of spotting along the upper outer top edge of the pages, some mild toning to the front and back endpapers and a short rippling crease to the front free endpaper and half-title page. The unclipped dust jacket is worn down to white at the top back corner of the spine and there's a short nick (about 5mm in length) along the upper back edge. British sites described include Stonehenge and Avebury, and ones in Orkney and Shetland; in Brittany, there are illustrated accounts of sites, cromlechs and menhirs at Carnac. Special attention is paid to places' astronomical significance. Tipped in is what looks like a late Seventies - early Eighties amateur photograph of Stonehenge. The book is part of Professor A. Thom's important series about megaliths and their use as lunar observatories. It was Professor Thom who first established the idea of the 'megalithic yard'.
