Map of the County of Somerset. from Actual Survey made in the Years 1820 & 1821
Book Description
Housed in contemporary full calf slipcase, with original gilt morocco spine label. The coloured map mounted in eighty segments backed on linen and trimmed with blue silk. Engraved vignette of Wells Cathedral to the lower left hand corner, key lower right. The silk is loosening to the left hand lower corner edge, occasional light spotting and light age-toning. The slipcase is rather rubbed and tired, with some losses to the extremities and corners. Map measures approx. 1842cm x 1330cm. A scarce example of this important early 19th century survey map of Somerset.
