Book Description

Half title, frontispiece (portrait of Robert Stevenson), title page, 2pp Preface, 4pp contents, 1pp List of Plates, 283pp, illustrations in the text, 12 plates, cloth covers with gilt titles to spine. The contents are in excellent condition, with light foxing ot the first and least few pp and a bookplate on the front paste down. The covers are a touch worn & rubbed at the edges & corners, the spine a little dulled. Overall a cracking copy of a rare book - only the second I've had. Stevenson was prolific Scottish engineer, famous for his lighthouses, including the Bell Rock Lighthouse, and his work on bridges, roads, harbours and rivers. He also surveyed a number of railway lines in Scotland but due to lack of funds these were never built. This Memoir was published by his son, David.
