(200 x 150 mm) pp. 315. Twelve full color illustrations with tissue guards. Pages ruled with decorative frame, often including a floral or bird motif. Completely gilt fore-edge. Red cloth binding with striking mountain, flower and author’s name in gilt, with black tree and title. Provenance stamp on front flyleaf (Lizzie Goddard) and written on verso of front fly leaf (E. Ramsay with best wishes from J. C. Barton, Xmas 1882). Small bookshop stamp on front paste down (Hatchards, Picadilly, London) and bindery label on back paste down (Bound by Burn & Co.) Some separation between gatherings, particularly evident between p. 96/97, but binding remains strong. Minor bumping to extremities. Browning to half-title page.
