Original decorated cloth backed boards with the silk marker still present. Mild rubbing to the corners and a little pushing at the spine ends. Some light age related markings to the boards. Internally clean. No wrapper- as issued. Designed and decorated throughout by Edward Bawden who provides a striking cover design, title page and 53 B/W headers. The book is protected in a removable Mylar archival cover. The Kynoch Press was an English-based fine press in Witton, Birmingham, founded in 1876 as a company press for Kynoch, a British manufacturer of ammunition. Initially, the press was used to print packaging. The press closed in 1981. From 1922 to 1935, the press commissioned leading artists, including Eric Ravilious, Agnes Miller Parker, Tirzah Garwood and Edward Bawden et al.(Wiki). A very handsome production and extremely scarce with such attributes. I can find no records of any copy having appeared at auction.
