Richard Doyle. Jack the Giant Killer. Published in 1888 after the death of Richard Doyle, this is the first facsimile edition of his original illustrated manuscript produced by him in 1842 when he was just 18 and working in his father’s studio. Each page has chromolithographs with a decorative border and the beautiful manuscript text. Patterned endpapers, corner torn from front endpaper, tissue repair to lower edge of rear endpaper, a short, closed edge tear at the base of one leaf. A few small marginal marks otherwise contents very good. Pictorial title page, tipped in publishers’ introduction, 48 pages. 252 x 210 mm [approx. 10” x 8 ¼”] Lavender blue cloth with lettering and decoration in dark brown and orange; cloth bubbled in an area on the rear cover; some small marks and points of wear, generally very good.
