First edition. 8vo. pp. 197, [2, Index]; 8 plates of photo. illusts., one folding map; a little foxing, age- toning to illusts., else good in the original cloth, faded on spine. A presentation copy from the leader of the expedition, inscribed to flyleaf “Colin Bertram with best wishes from Brian Roberts”.

This is an account of the 1931 expedition to Iceland’s Vatnajökull led by Brian Roberts. The expedition members made the sixth traverse of the ice-cap. The author was the expedition’s surveyor. This copy was presented by Roberts to Colin Bertram, himself a member with Roberts of the Cambridge Expedition to Scoresby Sound, Greenland, in 1933, and again with him on the BGLE 1934-7.
