How The Vote Was Won, Cicely Hamilton & Christopher St. John, Edith Craig, 1913 First performed in 1909, "How The Vote was Won" is a one-act play written by Cicely Hamilton and adapted for stage in collaboration with Christabel Hamilton. The play, supporting women's suffrage, was both popular in the United Kingdom and the United States and was one of the first major hits for the Actresses' Franchise League. In fair condition, the binding is straight and tight, the covers darkened and the lettering on the spine bright. There is loss to the top corner of the front cover, loss to the edge of the front cover, loss to the bottom corner to the front cover, tears to the top and bottom of the spine, loss to the top edge of the spine and marks to the back cover. The end papers and pages are free from tears and inscriptions. There are two marks to the front end paper. A play of significant historical importance and unseen elsewhere. Will be dispatched carefully wrapped in bubblewrap and a cardboard box.
