Contemporary full calf, spines with 5 raised bands, contrasting labels, gilt titles and decorative panels, marbled edges. Bookplate of James Comerford to all three front pastedowns. In Vol.2, page 219 is misnumbered 119 and page 299 is misnumbered 296. Page 129 in vol. 3 is misnumbered 126. Internally clean, text and plates bright. An attractive and rare edition of an early picaresque novel, illustrated with charming and often humorous plates, translated from Spanish to French by the seventeenth-century novelist Sebastien Brémond.
