Rare 1812 facsimile of original 1563 text. Black letter, From an original copy in Auchinleck Library. Small 4to., recent reback, quarter calf over original marbled boards and endpapers, spine with contrasting label and gilt title, pp. xii, 32[1]. Occasional decorated initial letters and printed notes in the margins. Old catalogue cutting pasted to final free endpaper describing the contents of the book. Boards and corners a little rubbed but a clean attractive copy. Quintin Kennedy (1520 1564), Abbot of Crosraguell,was a Catholic opponent of the Scottish Reformation. He had a public discussion in Maybole with John Knox, the founder of the Presbyterian church in Scotland, who had come to Ayrshire to preach in 1562.
